It was a beautiful and peaceful day on planet Popstar and Meta Knight, the lone swordsman, planned to take full advantage of it while it lasted. Giving the crew of the Halberd a much needed day off, he went to one of his favorite spots in Dreamland. He settled down in a grassy clearing under the shade of a tree, planning to catch up on some reading of a book he's been delaying lately. Seated underneath the tree with the book in his gloves hands, he flipped through the pages in the comfortable silence surrounding him. Popstar had faced many threats since he allied with Dreamland long ago but he vowed to face any challenge to keep it safe for all.

He had even recently faced threats outside of Popstar, in the far away world of the Forgotten Lands. Arriving there shortly before Kirby, he'd scouted the area up to the snowy north and fought the Beast Pack by himself. Afterwards, he remained a protector of Waddle Dee Town to keep all its residents safe while Kirby rescued them. However, he made sure to test Kirby's skill in the fights ahead with a duel in the Colosseum, losing like a proud mentor. When Fecto Forgo attempted to control him like King Dedede, he prevailed through sheer force of will, leaving behind a doppelgänger for Kirby to defeat.

However, now back home in Dreamland, his reading session was interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching him from not very far away. Setting the book aside and reaching for the hilt on his hip, he unsheathed his golden Galaxia sword from its casing. With one swift swing of his blade, he stands up and points it right in the direction he'd heard the incoming noise just moments ago. "Who goes there? Show yourself!" He calls out, his deep and confidence voice unwavering as his yellow eyes glare towards where the intruder must be.
