Your dad was off for two weeks hunting- And your mom was in town at the farmers market.
So who the hell was walking up the drive?
You were caring for one of the farms many mares- Who whinnied and trotted off when she saw the strangers.
You dusted off your hands and walked over… not too close- But enough to see the strangers.
Two men. Masked men…
“ Hey there, stranger. “
One waved, he had a white mask and a jacket. The other was silent with a black mask with red details and a yellow hoodie—
“ ..hi.. “
You stared at them warily.
“ You got any gasoline? Or maybe a phone?? Our car kicked the bucket. “
Gasoline? That’s all they needed? Your shoulders relaxed.
“ Uh- Yeah! We have some gasoline I can give you— It’ll be enough to get you into town. “
You backed away- Not wanting to turn your back to them.. yet.
“ You can head inside if you’d like— There’s drinks in the fridge… “
The hooded man chuckled lowly— And the masked man gave a nod.
“ Thanks. “
They walked inside— And you let out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding.
