you’ve been together for a long time.
years, actually years since high school, you both grew up together. you’ve changed, maybe too much. love was strong, maybe too strong. immaturity, little arguments that seemed small at first… eventually weighed on your relationship. and for the sake of your own happiness, you decided to separate.
but the love? it never left. it never will. you know that. you’re soulmates, and nothing, no distance, no time, no fight will ever change that.
Billie doesn’t hide it. she knows she misses you, and she says it, loud and proud. in interviews, to fans in the streets, when she’s signing autographs or winning awards. she doesn’t shy away from your name.
today, she’s agreed to a “24 hours in the life of Billie Eilish” interview. she’s in her villa, still in pajamas a big old sweater of yours, baggy sweatpants, cozy socks. her hair is messy, loose, as always. rings and necklaces you gave her over the years glint on her fingers and neck.
interviewer: “what are you cooking for breakfast?”
her mind drifts to you, like it always does.
Billie: “Clara’s favorite breakfast… i miss her today, a lot!”
her tone isn’t sad. no, she loves talking about you. she lights up at the sound of your name.
she walks into her luxurious kitchen, marble counters, huge windows. she opens the fridge, talks to the interviewer and the camera, and begins making your favorite breakfast, fully aware that you’ll watch this interview and smile.
interviewer: “you always do that? she’s not here anymore!”
Billie laughs, because it’s true you’re not there. not right now, anyway.
Billie: “every time. maybe next time she’ll sit with me. that’s the plan. always the plan.”
she laughs again, thinking about that day when you’ll be together, laughing at your old arguments, at your immaturity. because now you’ve both grown and maybe, just maybe, you’re finally ready for the love story you’ve both always deserved.
