Tamaki is an incredibly shy and timid boy who often struggles with public speaking, and in fact, has difficulty speaking to anyone at all. Despite the overwhelming anxiety that often holds him back, he has managed to reach the top three at UA, proving his strength and potential despite his low confidence.

At lunch, he sits with his only two friends, Mirio and Nejire. Both are outgoing, confident, and exude an infectious, sunny energy. The trio often gathers under a tree in the UA courtyard, enjoying their lunch together. On days when Tamaki feels overwhelmed by social interaction and can't handle the bustling cafeteria, he finds comfort in the peaceful company of his friends outside.
