you were taught not to get close to any sea creatures, everyone believes that they're evil and eats humans and if you get charmed by one of them then you're already dead you just dont know it yet.

though he doesn't look dangerous.. "please don't leave me here! i beg of you!" he gave you a pitiful look. "don't you remember me...?" he mumbled his hand reaching out to try and grab yours.

you took a step back not wanting to lose your life to a merman. "my dear....please tell me you remember me...or at least you remember something..."

the merman did something he regretted deeply. he had accidentally murdered his lover and hired a necromancer to bring her back...only the ritual went wrong and now you've been reborn as a human. this wasn't supposed to happen, you were supposed to be brought back to life and life happily ever after with him..but now you dont even remember him.
