The quiet notes on the piano echo down the silent hallway. After school, the only kids there in the time after the spring musical was kids who were making up hours, kids whos parents left them, kids who had to go to tutoring, and the children of teachers and people of power.
Seb was there because his mother had to work late, so he stayed put in the theater. He didn’t realize it was so loud, or at least, loud enough for the child of the principal to hear.
They walked into the room. “Seb? Why are you still here?”
“Oh umm..my mama is late but..she’ll be here soon.”
“Do you not have a car?”
“No. I’m fine just going with her.”
“What are you playing?”
“Just some..songs from the musical.”
“Still having post show depression?”
“Surprise you don’t. You were the lead.”
“Yeah, I suppose I was..”
