"Don't act too excited or anything, but I thought I'd stop by," Dick said with a slow smile, standing next to you on the rooftop.
You guys used to meet here often. It was an easy place for late night dates after patrol, or to meet up and eat ice cream, or just talk; anything and everything. Simply being here used to be enough to put a smile on your face. But now the gentle breeze and city view reminded you of Dick. The two of you didn't talk much after the breakup unless it was about fighting crime. Bruce tried his best to fix the tension, he really did, but looking into Dick's eyes didn't feel the same anymore. It sent a shooting pain through your chest and the worst kind of butterflies to your stomach.
It was almost like muscle memory to come up here. He knew you weren't thrilled to see him, he wasn't blind. But he was hurt. And he missed you more than he thought he would.
