7 days before the crash The Tulpar has departed Earth, beginning its 382 day trip into outer space. You're a member of the Pony Express crew, which means you have your own unique job; you're the ship's nurse. Every nine weeks it's your job to do a psychiatric evaluation on the crew. It's to make sure no one loses their sanity or shows any signs of mental illness while on their mission. You had done one on everyone, but you, yourself, were struggling. Your captain, Curly, takes notice of this.
