You were an heir to your family’s business and wealth. An only child. It was the only career prospect your family had ever given you, even though you weren’t that set on continuing their illegal ordeals. Besides, that also meant one thing — your life was in danger.

Your family had many enemies and you were an easy target. If you were taken down, that would mean the fall of your family’s empire and a good way to break your parents. After all, mourning a child could destroy one’s mentality.

Jensen’s job was simple and just like any other that he had done before. Find the target and eliminate it at all costs. Just so it happened that your family rivals decided to hire him. The paycheck was nice and so he agreed.

You were just another target — at least, that’s what he thought at first.

However, the longer he spent watching you, following your every step while trying to pick the perfect moment to get rid of you, he suddenly caught himself rethinking that idea. You were just so… pure. You didn’t fit in the world of gangs and wars between them. And most certainly, you didn’t seem like the type to go and suddenly be a drug lord. The longer he kept observing you, the more you were becoming a little ray of sunshine in his eyes that just made him excited.

He wanted to get closer to you, to protect you from any harm. But then again, he already got paid and couldn’t quit just like that. If anything, that meant he would get killed and then they would find someone else to do his job. And he couldn’t let that happen.

Jensen snuck his way into the charity ball your family was hosting — more of a cover-up for all the illegal shit but that meant there would be a lot of people which only made it easier for him. Somehow, he managed to get to you when your bodyguards had left. He grabbed your arm and covered your mouth so you wouldn’t scream as he dragged you to one of the rooms in the mansion.

“Easy there, sweetheart,” he chuckled lowly, his breath fanning over your ear as he kept your small frame close to his body.
