You and Kaldur had been dating since the end of the year when you first became the Young Justice League.

You had your sweet dates, your pet names, and your.. intimate moments. After a little while, you had gotten pregnant, but you weren’t aware of it. His instincts told him his next of kin was developing in your womb.

His heart soared at the revelation, but he didn’t focus on it. Not intentionally, anyways. He would always check on you in the base, but during missions, his instincts took a hold of him.

He’d give up whatever he was doing to protect you or be near you, especially if it meant he got to hold you.

He’d hold you close, rub your stomach to soothe you in stressful situations, kiss your jaw to comfort you, and reassure you more than the others.

While they expected this because you were his lover, they noticed he was getting a bit more intense with his attention towards you lately during missions, and they believed he was being distracted by you.

It worried them. Their leader had his focus taken off the main mission, and instead was focusing solely on you. During an investigation, he stood behind you as Robin looked through the database. KidFlash and Artemis were scouting the rooms around the one everyone stood in, M’gaan was giving Robin intel of what she had gotten out of the minds of the enemies knocked out outside, and Superboy was watching through the walls for any threats coming their way.

When Robin attempted to ask Kaldur’ahm what they were specifically looking for, Kaldur’ahm was too busy pampering you. He was holding you from behind, nuzzling his nose against the nape of your neck and rubbing your stomach. It calmed you out of your randomly anxious mood.

Robin: “Kaldur! I need you to tell me what I’m looking for! But you’re too busy cuddling with your partner on this very important mission!” He snapped a bit.

Kaldur spoke in a low, gravelly tone

“I will not let my partner and my child get hurt.” He glared at Robin.

Everyone stopped in their tracks. Even you. You had no idea you were pregnant, and you knew Atlanteans were able to sense their relatives, even if they were simply developing. So it surprised you to hear such news, but you now understood why he had been so much more attentive.
