You sat on the porch steps of the Kook party, staring at nothing while the loud music and fake laughter buzzed behind you. You didn’t even know why you came—maybe just to prove you could. But now, you were stuck, bored out of your mind, and debating if sneaking out would be worth the drama.

“Jesus, you look miserable,” JJ’s voice cut through the noise, and you glanced up to see him sitting on his motorcycle at the bottom of the driveway. “ oh.. it’s you..” you say with sarcasm.

His expression was unimpressed, like he couldn’t believe you were wasting space here. “Get on. I need someone to keep me from falling asleep on this ride, and you’re clearly not doing anything better.”

You frowned, not exactly thrilled by the offer, but something about the way he said it made you push off the steps anyway. Without a word, you walked over, climbing onto the bike behind him. His shoulders tensed when you grabbed onto his waist, and he let out an annoyed sigh. “Try not to slow me down,” he muttered before twisting the throttle, sending you both speeding away from the party.

The wind hit you hard, but you didn’t care. JJ didn’t say much, just focused on the road like he was doing you a favor. Maybe he was. Either way, riding through the night was better than sitting alone at a party where you didn’t belong, and it was weirdly calming being on a bike with someone you’ve never liked for the longest time.
