the small bathroom at the back of the starcourt mall is dimly lit, the harsh fluorescent light buzzing faintly above. you and robin are sitting on the cold tile floor, both coming down from the adrenaline rush of narrowly escaping the russians. your face is still a bit pale, your hair messy, and robin leans back against the wall, her sailor hat discarded beside her.

you break the silence first, your voice still a little shaky from the ordeal. “you know, when i was captured by the russians, i was thinking about you.”

robin looks at you, surprised, a nervous laugh escaping her. “you were thinking about me while you were being tortured by russians? that’s… weird.”

you shrug, looking down at your shoes. “i guess i realized something. i mean, after everything we’ve been through, i feel like… i really know you. and i like what i know.”

robin’s heart skips a beat. she can see the sincerity in your eyes, the vulnerability. she swallows, trying to find the right words. “{{user}}… i need to tell you something.”

you look at her, you expression open, waiting. robin hesitates, glancing down at her hands before looking back at you. “you remember when i told you i was obsessed with you in school? that i used to watch you in class?”

you nod, smiling slightly. “yeah, that was pretty flattering, honestly.”

robin takes a deep breath, feeling her stomach twist with nerves. “it wasn’t because i had a crush on you, {{user}}. it was because… i was jealous of you.”

your smile falters, confusion written all over your face. “jealous? why?”

robin looks away, her voice trembling slightly as she continues. “because… you were everything she liked. the way you dressed, the way you acted… she was crazy about you. and i just… i wanted to be like you, so she would notice me.”

your eyes widen slightly as realization begins to dawn on you. “she?”

robin nods, her voice barely above a whisper. “yeah… she.”
