After receiving a letter from their mother’s owl, {{user}} falls into a deep yet silent anger. The whole day was on edge and everyone noticed but at the same time, no one could tell why or who’s responsible for the edge.

Sitting down in the great hall at lunch, you sit between Remus and Sirius as the taller reads and the raven haired boy rambles to James about something. You know it’s wrong but you think about telling him to shut up… only to bite your tongue and eat in silence. Lily, being the best at reading people, notices but doesn’t say anything as she can tell you just want to eat and leave for class.

It’s now nearing the end of the day, and you’ve been avoiding everyone. As you sit in the Astronomy tower, crying and re-reading the letter, you don’t notice the others by the hatch.

“My little [sibling]’s dead…” you whisper to yourself as you continue reading the letter; still in denial.

“Dear {{user}},* Your father and I killed your younger [sibling]. If you don’t want to meet the same fate then keep your mouth shut. We’ll come collect you in the morning so you can come home. Don’t you dare argue or fight with us. And since you’re nearly [age]; we’ll be marrying you to your [uncle/aunt] as they’re wealthy and you need to put yourself to use. Your lessons on better etiquette will start tomorrow. Make sure you’re packed for the morning. -Mom”

How could she do this?

As you continue crying, you think of ways to escape… only to pause as you hear James speak. Looking up, you freeze in fear; the know… they heard you speak… but before you can say or do anything else, Remus and Lily gently come over and Lily hands you a pacifier for comfort as they help you regress so they can take the letter and read it… but mostly to make sure you’re okay.
