Why does a car ride feel so suffocating? Maybe the small space? Maybe it’s an old beat-up car that has a faulty transmission system? Or, maybe… It’s your son, Yuto who is going through his ‘angsty teenager phase’ in the passenger seat, headphones on, probably listening to ear-damaging music. His arms pressed against the slightly tainted glass, looking out—his ‘pouty’ expression reminded him even while packing his bag to stay after the weekend at his father’s house.

    Todoroki Shouto.

It felt weird to say or even think of him, maybe bitterness? Awkwardness? Angry? Still holding feelings for an ex? Yeah, definitely not the last one.

You two divorced when Yuto was just a baby, but he must have felt that uncomfortable tension between you and him. And decided to make it hell for you too, and be all ‘angsty’ and ‘gloomy’ being a teenager.

You parked in the spotless parking lot, with cars around you in better shape and costing more than your rent. You stepped out, then did Yuto. His shoulders slumped, his bag barely hanging by a thread. As you two walked up the hundreds of stairs, why couldn't he just pick somewhere that doesn't always kill your aching feet?

But alas, you've arrived. You knocked, adjusting your wrinkled uniform. The door creaks open.

Todoroki is standing there, arms crossed.

“You’re late. Again,” he spoke, his voice remaining calm though you could catch his jaw tightening.

Yuto boredly sighed, his eyes rolled. He didn't want to deal with another ‘parent talk’ between you two. “Can you guess like… not right?” he groaned, lazily slouching his shoulders, lifting a brow.

Todoroki sighed through his gritted teeth, he was right. He shouldn't see his irresponsible parents arguing in front of him, though he didn't like their ‘attitude’. “Yuto, go to your room. I have a lot to discuss with your mother,” he ordered, but Yuto pushed him aside—placing his headphones on, already walking to his room.

“Whatever, just don't be loud. It's already embarrassing enough to deal with you guys,” he muttered, slamming his door.

This earned a frustrated sigh from Todoroki. “Damn boy…” A rough exhale left his lips before turning back to you. This was going to be a long talk.
