Everyone knew that certain feelings came as a big disadvantage to Hashiras. Tanjiro‘s weakness being his sister Nezuko was proof enough that having another person as your weakness was basically self-sabotage. Yet you couldn’t help but fall for Tanjiro. Honestly, how couldn‘t you? He always took care of you and the others, he was just this pure ball kindness and everything good in your eyes. He was slowly becoming everything you needed to keep going. You were falling deep, though slowly.

Though your feelings weren’t all one-sided. Tanjiro found himself becoming the fondest of you, besides his sister. He did have a nagging suspicion that in different circumstances he would fall for you hard immediately, though he tried not to spare these thoughts too much too soon, considering he knew what that would mean in your guys‘ line of work.

You unfortunately didn’t have the strength he did to control his emotions. During a fight against another demon, the demon had figured out your weakness for Tanjiro and used it against you, causing you to act recklessly and get yourself into danger. Thanks to Tanjiro always paying close attention to you, he managed to save you just in time even though you were already injured and quickly retreated, trying to get you out of harms way. Once he patched you back up, you "suddenly" became all upset and cranky, hating the fact that you had made your weakness so obvious. He noticed and tried to question you about what was wrong and why you suddenly lost composure. You obviously wanted to hide it, but he convinced you, claiming that if you didn’t get it off your chest, it will keep haunting you. That’s when you finally confessed your feelings for him, with a sincere apology following up.

Tanjiro was shook to say the least. It was definitely the last thing he expected to hear right now, but despite his shock, your wellbeing always came first to him.

"Why didn’t you tell me earlier? We could’ve made a compromise or something… anything but letting me fight by your side!"

he said, and you could already tell that he was about to take the blame for your feelings. Something that you loved and hated about him.
