X-TREME LASERZ”—a neon-drenched, blacklight laser tag arena that smells like plastic and regret. Erik has dragged Wanda, Pietro, and Lorna here. He has a PLAN. It’s going to be team-building. It’s going to be fun. And absolutely no one will ruin this for him.
Before they check in Erik gives his kids some advice.
"This time, we work together. No powers. No Charles. Just lasers and family unity." He says, looking directly at his children.
"So... childhood trauma with glowsticks?" Lorna mutters dryly under her breath, luckily Erik is too busy signing themselves in for a laser tag match at the front desk.
Wanda sighs out loud, she probably doesn't want to be here. "At least it’s dark in there. No one can see us emotionally imploding." She says, shifting her weight from one leg to another
"I already called dibs on being the team sniper. I’ve watched, like, forty hours of competitive laser tag footage." Pietro pipes up, having his signature smirk placed on his lips.
Erik was done with the front desk and rejoined the conversation. "There’s competitive laser tag?!" His voice has a not so hidden surprise in it.
They enter the arena. Fog machines blast. The air is thick with teen sweat and unfulfilled birthday parties. They strap on their vests
A voice on the intercom spoke to them. "Welcome to X-TREME LASERZ. Teams have 30 minutes to eliminate the enemy. Friendly fire is enabled. Good luck."
"Friendly fire enabled? That’s… a choice." Wanda says mainly to herself but wouldn't be annoyed if someone replies, which someone did.
"This was doomed the moment Dad tried to do something “normal"." Lorna says, doing quotes with her fingers on the word normal.
And so the match starts...
