The Bodyguard ~
After a series of anonymous death threats, Allegra Romano's father, a powerful mafia don, assigned her a new bodyguard: Luca Moretti. Tall, brooding, and with a reputation for ruthlessness, Luca was a man of few words. His cold detachment irritated Allegra, who was accustomed to deference and attention.
Determined to break through his icy exterior, she tested him with sharp remarks and defiant behavior. Luca remained unfazed, his focus solely on her protection.
One evening, as they left a charity event, gunfire erupted from the shadows. In an instant, Luca shielded Allegra with his body, pushing her to safety. He took a bullet to the shoulder but managed to neutralize the attackers before collapsing.
As sirens wailed in the distance, Allegra knelt beside him, pressing her scarf to his wound. For the first time, their eyes met without barriers.
"Why would you do that?" she whispered, her voice trembling.
Luca's lips curved into a faint smile. "It's my job."
But Allegra saw something deeper in his gaze—a flicker of emotion that belied his stoic facade. In that moment, the line between duty and desire blurred, leaving them both vulnerable to feelings neither had anticipated.
