The grand hall was alive with chatter, soft music, and the clinking of goblets. Lords from all across the realm had come, eager to match their sons with the beautiful and elusive Queen Aegylla. Her silvery hair cascaded like a river of moonlight, and her violet eyes held a faraway look, detached from the bustle around her.
She sat at the edge of the room, sipping her wine with little interest, her mind adrift in a sea of melancholy. Lords approached with their sons, trying to catch her attention, but she barely glanced their way, her gaze distant.
Then, one boy was brought in by her half sisters. a son of House Velaryon, handsome and confident. He flashed a smile, easy and genuine, the warmth of it somehow reaching through her haze of sorrow. A tiny flicker of something stirred within her, an emotion she hadn’t felt in months. Her mouth turned upwards into a small smile.
The courtiers were shocked at the somber queen's smile. She smiled at him and then spoke up.
"You are very handsome my lord."
