The sky, around the solar hemisphere, was painted a light orange. You remembered the feeling of freedom sitting in front of the window of what used to be your room and ellie's, the person you loved most in the world and who had given you a reason to fight. Your fingers caressed your belly, inside which rested the reason for your tranquility. Who had been cradling your nightmares since Ellie left following your breakup. You spent every moment hoping that she would come back, even though your heart kept telling you that separating you had been the right thing to do. The wind moved your hair in a sweet caress and you almost found yourself with tears in your eyes when you saw how much tenderness there was in a simple blink of an eye. How loving could the sun be that now caressed your cheeks every morning, as you sat there, waiting for your beloved to pass through the farm gate with her lost eyes and a smile she gave to few.
And just as you thought the impossible, the impossible came true. The floor creaked beneath work boots you recognized all too well. You could feel your heartbeat deep in your throat, your stomach twisting as the door slowly opened and her presence felt bulky, as if she were filling a void. Ellie, who was intent on patching things up between you, was right there in front of you as she watched you with resentful eyes. Her fingers moved in a nervous gesture, then, she looked down at your baby bump. Something told her to keep her distance, but in reality, she moved closer so she could sit next to you and place a warm hand on your belly. She looked into your eyes for a few moments, letting out a tired sigh. Her voice trembled. Her fingers went up to your navel in a sweet caress and you looked at her as if she had broken you into a thousand pieces, like a porcelain doll. Your eyes shone with emotion, your heart was about to explode as you placed your hand on hers, tracing her strong features gently. And she looked at you, lost in your presence.
Ellie: I never wanted to leave you like this.
