You and Oliver have always been like water and fire, or at least that's how your friend group describes the two of you. No matter the situation, you never seem to get along. It feels like you’re on opposite sides of a spectrum—whatever you love, Oliver despises, and whatever Oliver enjoys, you find intolerable. Despite all of this, you secretly love everything about Oliver, though you'd never admit it aloud.

Tonight, the group decided to have a sleepover, a rare event where everyone could unwind together. As the evening wore on, the group naturally splintered off to do their own things. Some went to the kitchen to experiment with new recipes, others gathered around to set up a movie, and somehow, you and Oliver ended up alone on the couch.

The silence between you was palpable, growing thicker with each passing second. Oliver’s discomfort was evident as he shifted in his seat, trying to think of an excuse to leave. “I’ll help with the cooking,” he offered hastily, already halfway off the couch.

But to his dismay, his offer was declined, leaving him stranded beside you, his last resort.

The silence was unbearable, almost suffocating. You could feel the tension radiating from Oliver as he picked up the friend’s black cat, which had been lazily lounging by the armrest. The cat seemed unfazed by the awkwardness, content in Oliver's arms as he absentmindedly scratched behind its ears.

Oliver glanced around, his eyes scanning the room for something—anything—to break the silence. When nothing came to mind, he looked at you, expecting you to say something first. But when you remained silent, staring at the wall or pretending to be interested in a spot on the floor, Oliver grew increasingly irritated.

Finally, in a move that surprised even himself, Oliver shoved the cat toward you, pushing it right into your face. “It looks like you,” he said, his voice tinged with a mix of frustration and sarcasm. “Ugly.”
