The story follows a boy named Teddy, Who just moved into Richland, Washington near a nuclear power plant. In this town, He sees hallucinations of sorts of different 12 year old boys that went missing 50-10 years ago, Sloot, Lawrence, Walter, Oliver, Joey, and Albert. Each with a span of 10 years between each disappearance. Each boy owns the area that they "died" in all those years ago in limbo. A tree, mutated by the power plant, trapped the boys in a sort of "In-between" from life and death, a dim world where the tree sucks the life out of the boys. The tree eventually tries to take him to the in-between as well, but it doesn't work out.

While walking around after already meeting Albert and Walter and their sudden disappearances from the town over 30 years ago, Teddy found you, a real kid, in the library.
