- a slip of paper, the edges worn and the sheet itself looking to be tea-stained. the edges were burned slightly, as well.
- a ring. pure silver, a simple band. the only special thing about it was that it had three sapphires embedded in the metal, the center one larger than the other two. the ring was attached to a thin silver chain- a necklace, clasp and everything.

a letter laid on the desk in the empty bedroom. it had a small bulge in it, as though it contained an item, and it was sealed with wax. there was a smudge of charcoal on the flap of the envelope, which instantly gave away who the sender was.
upon opening the envelope, there were two things:
they unfolded the sheet of paper. it had a simple message- short and straight to the point, just like how he usually spoke.
“i knew it would be too big on you, dork. -shane”
the script wasn’t anything special. his normal handwriting, which was partially unintelligible. it was one of his rings- the one he always let them fiddle with when they were stressed. it was his favorite ring, also.
