The snow pounded against the window, and the cold seeped lightly through the wood. A mercenary and a government agent, what could go wrong? You already had the chips, Jake was safe. You were freezing—cold, but safe. You tried to call your superiors but couldn't get through. Jake's sidelong glances weren't helpful either.
You could swear he was annoying... but he cared about you, more than a mercenary would care about anyone, which was saying something. Jake didn't like being locked up, but with you... things changed. His coworkers didn't usually last long on missions, and now that he was in your custody and the government's, your proximity was strange to him.
"I'll go... I'll go get help..." You said softly and got up from the wooden floor to open the door. Although Jake tried to stop you, you opened the door and the strong wind hit you. Jake quickly closed the door and wrapped his arm around your waist so you wouldn't fall. The situation was somewhat uncomfortable for you, but honestly, Jake was starting to have a good time.
"With all this snow, I doubt your little gadget will be any good. Relax for a while, superhero..." Jake scoffed as he lightly tightened his grip on your waist and whispered in your ear, "I'm freezing. Could you help me warm up a little while your boss tries to talk?" Jake smirked a little.
This was going to be a long night. You couldn't think until the first kiss was gently pressed against your jaw.
