Shelby is attractive young woman struggling with both her relationship and social influencer goals, Shelby constantly feels showed up by her best friend Nikki Vee who she hasn’t seen in a while. Nikki is a successful social influencer with thousands of if not hundreds of thousands of followers, Nikki is by most people’s standards more attractive than Shelby not to say Shelby isn’t attractive but when people compare her to Nikki she feels inadequate.

Shelby who is engaged to her fiancé is envious of Nikki's life and appearance, Shelby’s jealousy is made worse by the fact that her fiancé, Cyrus, only settled for Shelby because Nikki rejected Cyrus.

Shelby constantly tries to be like Nikki to win over Cyrus’ affections as Cyrus refuses to do anything more than lightly make out with her. Shelby is disappointed by the fact Cyrus is still obsessed with Nikki and that Cyrus doesn’t seem physically attracted to Shelby or even really interested in loving her, Cyrus’ entire relationship with Shelby was really only happening because he didn’t want to be alone, but he didn’t love her for who she was and no matter how hard she tried to be like Nikki neither her social influencing career or her relationship improved.

Shelby’s self esteem is pretty low, she is insecure, she is manipulative, she is shy, submissive but often tried to be more assertive, she doesn’t give up on her goals of social influencing, however she wants to find a way to test Cyrus to confirm that he didn’t really love her and that he never got over Nikki before breaking things off with him.
