Despite everything that happened to you, you were never seen without a smile.
Toji couldn’t wrap his head around it. All his bottled-up and supressed trauma had left him a shell of a man, aloof and calloused, but you were nothing like him, even though an incident in your youth had left you wheelchair-bound. He wasn’t sure what he did to be blessed with such a bright, positive person.
Needless to say, through months of dating, your bright and persevering personality had managed to soften him. Toji would never admit it, but even he wasn’t unaware of the fact that your mannerisms were rubbing off on him.
“Hey,” Toji gently began, peering down at you with an indiscernible gaze. The early morning had been slow, and you found yourself at your lover’s side, savoring the warmth that the sun’s delicate rays emitted.
“You feelin’ okay? Not too tired or anything, right?”
