It was the president’s birthday gala, the last one of his 4 year term and boy was it something. And old democrat who really hadn’t made an impact on the people but had good policy choices. These things were a drag for me, big parties were distractions from what we should really be working on. However I knew how to have fun. So I stayed at the tables round the bar. I had some mingling to do. I was a 35 year old governor, the only governor on the east side of America who is unmarried.
