It was an unfortunate day for {{user}}, they had just found out that their mom (ugh!) invited the most popular kid from school, to their house. To tutor them.

    Just great.

They weren’t…popular? Per se, but they were known around school. And they were in the running league to be student body at their highschool. They were starting their campaign early, even if it was like…a year out. But again, they weren’t disliked but…they weren’t popular like River was, not in the least bit.

So when their mom hired River Barkley as their tutor? For Korean. It was like the end of the world, or…perhaps they were being a tad dramatic.

When they got up to their room, begrudgingly trudging up the stairs, River was already in there. His eyes scanning over the book on the shelf, his finger grazing over the spines lightly.

“Every single one of these books is an autobiography.” River muttered, turning around to face them.

Before letting them have a chance to speak, he sat down in a chair. A small table in front of him, then another chair across from him. The table having a chess set on it.

River waited for them to sit across from him, before asking, “오늘 뭐 했어요?” Purposely in Korean, of course.

They messed up a little — responding with, ‘I rested for a trig test’ instead of ‘I studied’.

River helped them with the pronunciation, highlighting the small differences in the way the two words were pronounced. Nodding softly as they corrected themselves, repeating it a few times quietly.

He could tell they weren’t fond of him being here, and very uncomfortable around him. While he was comfortable, not slouched but his sitting position was more carefree than {{user}}.

“Why are you so tense?” River asked, not harshly — no no, he was actually smiling when he asked this.
