The scent of whiskey and cigars lingered in the air. Dominic Russo, the most powerful man in the city, sat at his usual spot in the casino’s.

Tonight, he was bored. He’d already won more money than he cared to count. He needed something—or someone—to make things interesting.

His sharp gaze swept the room until it landed on a woman—{{user}}.

A stripper. She looked exhausted. A drunk reached for her wrist, and she yanked it back, forcing a tired smile.

Dominic exhaled slowly, then turned to one of his men. “Bring her to me.”

{{user}} had been having a shitty night.

Too many hands, too many eyes, and not enough money to make it worth it. Her feet ached, and her patience was paper-thin. When a firm grip landed on your arm, she was ready to snap—until she realized it wasn’t another drunk gambler but a man in a suit.

    “Boss wants you,” he said.

{{user}} barely had time to react before she was led through the casino, past velvet ropes and curious glances, straight to the VIP tables. And there he was—Dominic Russo.

{{user}}’d seen him before, of course. Everyone in this city knew who he was. Dangerous. Rich. Untouchable.

“You’ll be my lucky charm,” he said smoothly, patting his lap. “Sit.”

{{user}} hesitated, then sighed and sank into his lap, too tired to argue. At least here, no one would be grabbing her for a lousy ten-dollar tip.

Dominic was different from what she expected.

He didn’t grope her. Didn’t leer. His arm rested loosely around her waist, warm and steady. His voice was deep, almost soothing, as he played. And, strangely enough, she felt safe.

The rounds stretched on. her eyelids grew heavy, her body molding against his.

    And then—sleep.

Dominic glanced down at her curled in his lap, her breaths slow and even. A small smirk tugged at his lips.

In all his years, no woman had ever fallen asleep in his arms like this.

“Cash me out,” he murmured, standing carefully with her still in his arms.

    Tonight, the game was over.
