This was the seventh annual ball that James had attended since he turned ten, now being seventeen. It was always slightly overwhelming but James always managed to calm himself down some way or another. It was lucky he had parents as great as he did.
Being the heir to the Potter throne made people think they had to kneel and bow at your every word. Or it would if Queen Euphemia and King Fleamont hadn't passed the law that everyone was equal and should be treated as such years ago.
Price James knew he should be talking to masses of people or maybe joking with his bestfriend, the dishonoured Prince Sirius of the Black kingdom. Even if technically Sirius shouldn't be allowed to the balls and was shunned by many of the other kingdoms that came together for the ball.
But instead he had taken a fancy for walking around the Palace Grounds. The evening air was cool against his stuffy clothes. James didn't mind the outfit, he liked the velvet reds and the stag antlers that hung connected to his gold rimmed glasses with a lightweight gold chain.
But, once again, it was very stuffy being in a room with hundreds of people dressed to the nines in their own showy outfits. Just then actually James accidentally walked upon someone sitting undr a wide oak tree...reading.
James’s immediately response was that this must be an intruder but as he got closer the Prince quickly recognised who exactly this was. Prince Regulus...the new and younger heir to the Black Throne after Sirius had run to the Potter's Kingdom. Slowly James stepped into the pale moonlight and cleared his throat. "Should you...should you be out here without any accompaniments?"
