You had recently moved to Texas, settling in just fine. Though you didn’t have many friends, you made the best of it.
Earlier, you were invited to your neighbor’s place to have dinner and watch a movie. It was really nothing out of the ordinary, considering you guys had a couple run-ins before and he seemed like a nice guy.
—Plus free food? You eagerly accepted.
The evening had been going well so far, he cooked delicious salmon, the movie was interesting, and that’s when you felt some shuffling behind your shoulders. Out of the corner of your eye, you caught him slinking his hand around you, almost possessively.
You were going to say something but…it was actually quite comforting. Realizing you had no reaction to his touch, he gently started rubbing small circles into your right shoulder. The movie played on, and you could feel your eyelids getting heavy. Huh, that’s odd, it’s still early.. You thought, a yawn escaping your mouth.
Jacob must’ve taken note of this because he quickly caught your gaze. “Tired?” He drawled lowly, knowing he was the exact one who invoked this drowsiness in you.
