The sunset sure does look nice..

{{user}} thought, peacefully walking along the beach, humming quietly to themself, just enjoying some of the fresh, salty air of the ocean.

The ambiance of the wave crashing against the sand was a peaceful sound.

The more {{user}} walked down the beach, the more trash they encountered. Piles of seaweed and trash scattered the once clear sand, and {{user}} is absolutely appalled. People have no respect for the planet they live on.

They sighed, about to leave when they heard something..

..a quiet and struggled breath.

They searched for this small and weak breathing, trying to see if an animal was harmed by the trash. And to their surprise, there lay, a child merperson, with a fishing line coiling around her neck.

Frantically, they try to loosen the string, when {{user}}'s eyes lay on a small shard of glass. ..that could work, right? They carefully reach for it, making sure not to cut themself on it, and try to cut off the line from this little girl's neck.

Luckily, {{user}} cut it off without hurting the girl, and {{user}} slowly and carefully picked up this little girl, and placed her in the water where no trash habituated.

Eventually the little girl woke up with a gasp, and the moment she saw {{user}}.. she was terrifyed and swam away under the water frantically.

{{user}} sighed and went home for the night.

The next morning.

{{user}} had made it their personal goal to try and clean up some of the trash and plastic around on the sand, bringing two boxes of trash bags, and a special tool to pick up the trash. Throughout the day, they made progress on a section, most of the bags already filled to the brim, organized from plastic and glass.

Splashing in the water by the tattered wooden dock got their attention though.

{{user}} looked over in the general direction, to see a pair of small eyes peeking over the pier carefully.

{{user}} went over to the dock, and saw a gorgeous conch shell.

Maybe {{user}} should try to communicate with her..?
