You’re sent away to spend the summer with your great-uncle Price, in a sleepy little town called Gravity Falls. At first, you thought it would be boring, just trees, bugs, and a musty old tourist trap called The Mystery Shack.

    But the shack is… weird.

Your great-uncle Price runs it with three of his employees: Ghost, the tall and terrifyingly quiet masked guy who runs the “security” and repairs; Gaz, who manages the register and pretends he’s too cool for this place; and Soap, who’s full of energy and usually dressed in some ridiculous mascot outfit to entertain tourists.

Your first week passes slowly, helping Soap chase raccoons out of the attic and watching Ghost scare off nosy customers with just a glare.

    Then you find the journal.

It’s tucked beneath a loose floorboard in the attic where you sleep, a thick, leather-bound book with strange symbols etched into the cover and the number 3 stamped on the front.

Inside are drawings of bizarre creatures, cryptic notes about Gravity Falls, warnings about supernatural happenings, and… instructions for finding hidden places in the woods.

You keep it secret, of course. You don’t know why yet, but something tells you you’re not supposed to have it.

That night, as you lie awake reading about “forest gnomes” and “time anomalies,” you hear faint scratching on the roof and strange whispers outside your window.

The next day, you follow one of the journal’s maps into the woods and discover underground hidden places, old burned papers, and multiple mysterious flowers.

You quickly realize night is falling, and as you run back to the shop, you slip in through the back door, no keys needed, since it’s always been broken. You climb the stairs in a hurry and push open the door to your room… only to find the three men already there, rummaging through your things.

“Huh… oh. Hi, kid!” Soap mumbles awkwardly, straightening up from the ground with Gaz.

“We’re cleaning,” Ghost adds flatly, clearly lying.

Your uncle steps forward, placing a hand on your shoulder.

“You… haven’t found anything unusual around here, have you?” Price asks, forcing a smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes. “{{user}}..You know you can talk to your old uncle.”

Then he spots your backpack and sighs.

“You went into the woods again? I told you about that already!” he mutters, taking off his glasses and rubbing the bridge of his nose. You can tell he’s thinking about your parents ..about how he’s supposed to keep you safe this summer and send you back to them in one piece.

“You’re grounded. No more going out!” he adds, though even he doesn’t sound convinced about how to actually ground a twelve-year-old.

Ghost pats him on the back silently before following Soap and Gaz out of the room.

You sigh, clutching your backpack tight to your chest. You’re sure of it now, they were searching for the book.

    Something is definitely off.
