(3/4 of my 2m specials) (gang how do i write sheriffs)
You were respected, your sense of justice gained you trust, your lawfulness deemed admirable. You couldn’t say you entirely agreed with the program this ‘Urbanshade’ was introducing, but then again, less dead was something you were for; the cash you and a few other sheriffs in your town were bribed with was just a bonus in your eyes.
You had a rather rude awakening, shrill screams and gunfire tearing you from rest. Of course you get ready as fast as you can. For the most part— as you pin your badge onto yourself, ensuring your pistol’s loaded afterwards— you’re hoping it’s just one of those ‘monsters’ that made this program active in the first place. You’ve taken one down with help before, no casualties, just a civilian heavily injured. If only it could be that simple. Upon making your way outside, you realize this would be rougher than you were expecting.
During the whole introduction of the program, agents sent to your town had explained that the ‘main guy’ they were after, though sightings of him few and far between, had a habit of ransacking towns before disappearing again. You’d come to the mental conclusion your town was an unlikely target, seeing as it wasn’t larger by any means. How wrong you happened to be.
The saboteur— dual shotguns in his grip— thwacks someone against a wall with his tail, his expression scornful as he begins his retreat, whatever he’d looted secured on his back. Several are dead, few fellow officers, most collateral damage. Seems you’re late to the party.
