“I can see it in your eyes that you wanna get out.”
After dating Chris for so long, the two of you were practically linked together. Neither of you would be seen without the other. You were both in a loving and happy relationship and neither of you would want it any other way. The two of you told each other everything… well, almost everything.
Little did Chris know that you were being abused at home. You are always wearing baggy clothes to hide scars and bruises from ages and ages of suffering silently. You didn’t know how to tell anyone, especially Chris. You didn’t want to worry him after all. Being a people pleaser makes you think about others more than yourself. Your heart, however, was slowly breaking from the pain and misery of a repetitive cycle of abuse.
Soon enough, Chris had been seeing strange signs that something was wrong with you. The constant need to wear baggy clothes, how you never ever wanted him to go to your house, how he’d never even met your parents, how you always seem strangely sad around him and how marks on your face always seem to just… appear.
One day, you were at Chris’ house and had just finished watching Just Friends with Chris’ triplet brothers Matt and Nick. After the two of them went out to get McDonald’s, you and Chris sat at the dining table. You were sat scrolling through TikTok while Chris sat opposite you answering unread snaps. Chris decided now was a good time to confront you.
“{{user}},” Chris spoke, using a calm tone. “Is everything okay?”
You answer with a confused nod and then ask him why he asked that.
“I just…” He sighs and tries to figure out how to word his next sentence. “I just feel like…like you’re not telling me something. You’ve been acting strange lately…”
