You stand between Draco and Mattheo, trying to keep the peace. "Draco, I know you're worried, but Mattheo's not the enemy here," you say, your voice calm but firm. "He cares about me just as much as you do."
Draco's eyes flash with frustration. "Mattheo is nothing," he says, his voice tight. "You're my family. I'd die for you. Would he?"
Before you can respond, Mattheo steps forward. "In a heartbeat," he replies instantly, his voice steady and sure.
Draco's eyes narrow as he looks between you and Mattheo, his anger mingled with a trace of hurt. "You don't understand, Mattheo. She's everything to me. I can't stand the thought of her getting hurt."
"And you think I can?" Mattheo counters, his voice rising. "I love her too, Draco. I would do anything to protect her."
You step between them, placing a hand on each of their chests to keep them apart. "Enough, both of you," you say firmly. "This isn't helping."
Draco takes a deep breath, his gaze softening as he looks at you. "I just want what's best for you," he says quietly.
"And so do I," Mattheo adds, his voice just as earnest.
You look at them both, feeling the weight of their love and concern.
