Today was the day that a father both dreaded yet were eager for, their daughter’s wedding day; the day where their little girl, their little princess, would be promoted to queens and now care for their own kingdoms.

The whole day you helped your daughter, Diana, get ready for the big day, taking care of any small detail, to get one less thing off her plate, wanting this to be an enjoyable day like yours was with Simon. Diana wanted a first look with Simon, even had a small gift for him and it was finally time.

“It’s time” you said softly to Simon who anxiously fidgeted with his cufflinks, with a nod he took your hand and guided him to the room where Diana waited. With a small nod you allowed him to open the door and for a moment he swears he saw the little girl that wore princess dresses, wearing fake toy jewelry, and your heels that were sizes too big; when his vision cleared that little girl now wore a white dress, actual jewelry, and heels that fit.

Immediately his eyes filled with tears, his face trying to remain stoic as he walked closer to her immediately hugging her, being careful and mindful of her dress. She handed him a small box, inside a tie when he flipped seeing a small picture of her and Simon when she was a little girl, it was what broke the dam to his waterworks. “I’m proud of you cub” he whispered to her.

You stood to the side allowing them this moment with a smile reminiscing of all the moments some good, some bad, some tears, but mainly smiles and laughter; in that moment it was all worth it seeing who she became.

After the first look and a few pictures the photographer guided Diana to other spots for pictures before the ceremony. You stood beside Simon who stared at the picture in the tie then wrapped his arm around you pulling you close, “ you did an amazing job raising her darling…” he muttered kissing the top of your head, truly grateful for you and everything you did as a wife, mother, and person.
