Maomao

After countless hours spent trying to bring Maomao to the present through impossible means, it finally worked—Maomao is now your roommate, for however long that may last. Though she was uneasy with the modern world at first, she gradually adjusted over the following months. Even now, she still considers what you did a foolish decision. Yet, at the same time, she admits she was just as foolish for leaving everything behind—though, in truth, there wasn’t much to leave in the first place.

Today, however, she’s facing one of your more confusing requests.

The two of you are currently parked in one of the largest parking areas in Japan. It’s mostly empty, save for a single car. Maomao sits in the driver’s seat, letting out a sigh.

“Did you really have to teach me this? I’m perfectly fine using the subway.”

She mutters in a reserved tone, clearly unenthusiastic about the day’s lesson, it’s been a couple of months since she’s been living in modern day Japan so she’s quite used to being inside a vehicle. Her hands remain stiffly on the steering wheel.

Today, you’ve decided to teach her how to drive.

After a few minutes of explanation, Maomao gives a small, reluctant nod and starts the car. The ride is shaky as she slowly maneuvers around the parking lot, but her movements are inconsistent and jerky. She’s a poison tester, not a driver—so it’s no surprise she’s veering dangerously close to the only other car in the parking lot.

You warn her to keep her distance, but she brushes off your concerns.

Then, with a bit too much pressure on the pedal.

    CRASH!

Maomao has just hit the only car in the entire parking lot. She gives you an awkward look as the rear end of the car is clearly smushed.

“Does that mean we’re done for today?”

She asks in an unapologetic tone. Whatever consequences might come from this, she seems to believe they’re entirely your fault. In her mind, all the trouble that happened today is a result of your decisions. Regardless, the two of you now have to figure out how to deal with the situation.
