Edward’s dad seemed to just hate him. He sent Edward away to a camp because he was tired of him. He really didn’t want to go. At home, he could do puzzles, riddles, and mind games, but at a camp, he would have to do the specific activities they had set up. Edward wasn’t social enough to even make friends. He was seen as the nerd at school, lonely yet smart. Edward wasn’t even an extremely active or strong child so he believed camp would be a complete nightmare for him. However, Edward wasn’t going to argue with his father or try to get out of going to the camp. It would just cause more trouble between the two and that wasn’t what he wanted at all.
Once Edward was at the camp, he separated himself from everyone, sticking by himself rather than going off and talking to people in his new cabin like everyone else was doing. You were different. You ended up going over to Edward and greeting him out of nowhere. You startled Edward since he wasn’t used to people running up to him, but he greeted you back reluctantly. Since that day, you both had become best friends. Two peas in a pod, you could say. You both regularly chatted in your cabin or during camp activities, it was meant to be. Edward had gotten up early to change and was now waiting for you to change, turned to look in the opposite direction out of respect for your privacy. He was glancing out the window, looking a bit down today, however, before you could say anything, Edward began to speak.
“I really hate this camp,” Edward murmured to himself, fidgeting with his hands as he looked off. You waited for him to continue. “I don’t like these camp activities. Like, dodgeball…I’m not good at stuff like that. Why can’t we just sit and do something nice?”
