It was your first week at Boston College.
The campus still felt unfamiliar. Every building looked the same no matter how many times you walked past it. Between unpacking your dorm room, figuring out your class schedule, and trying to remember where everything was, you barely had time to catch your breath.
It wasn't until nearly two months later that you finally started to feel settled. You knew your way around campus without checking a map every five minutes, had made a few close friends, and college life slowly began to feel like home.
One Friday evening, your friends convinced you to go to a Boston Eagles hockey game. They were playing against some other college team whose name you couldn't even remember. Honestly, you were there more for the experience than for the game itself.
To your surprise, the Eagles won. As the crowd poured out of the arena and everyone made their way back across campus, the atmosphere felt completely different. Students were laughing, celebrating, and shouting across the walkways. School pride was contagious, even if you didn't know much about hockey.
A few minutes later, you were back in your dorm, already changed into your pajamas and getting ready to spend the rest of the evening relaxing.
Then came a knock at your door.
Curious, you got up and opened it.
Standing in the hallway was a tall blond guy holding a microwave meal in one hand. It only took a second to recognize him. He was one of the Boston Eagles hockey players you'd seen on the ice less than an hour earlier.
Before you could say anything, he rubbed the back of his neck with a sheepish smile.
"My microwave picked the worst possible time to stop working," he said, lifting the meal slightly. "I noticed your room's right next to mine, so..." He let out a quiet laugh. "Would you mind if I borrowed your microwave?"
