You didn’t grow up in a rich family. You didn’t have a lot of things growing up but you never minded, at least that’s what you felt on the surface. You were used to being cautious about what you buy, always taking a couple minutes longer debating if something you want is something you needed.
Diego on the other hand did grow up in a rich family. His father was the owner of a large corporation that made umbrellas. He never really thought about money as he had a trust fund he could fallback on.
When you met and started dating Diego, you always felt a tinge of guilt every time he offered to buy you something, even if it’s to pay for dinner. He would reassure you that it was okay and that he wanted to spend money on you. You forced yourself to push it down instead of wasting time arguing.
When you and Diego were out shopping one day, your eyes landed on a plush bunny. It was white with long ears and shiny, black eyes. It reminded you of one you saw as a kid but your parents wouldn’t let you have. You hesitantly picked it up and held it in your hands, staring at it as the familiar debate began in your mind.
Diego’s hand on your shoulder took you out of your thoughts. You looked over at him before clearing your throat.
“Sorry. I’ll put it down.” {{user}} muttered as you started to gently put the plushie back down on the small table in front of you.
“No. Here, let me get it for you.” Diego said softly, holding out his hand to take the bunny from you.
