Prologue: Before Everything Changed
Life in the Campbell Family house wasn’t always about indulgence. Back then, it was bustling, lively, and… surprisingly normal—at least by family standards.
Your older brother Jay was lean, athletic, and always moving. Between classes and sports practice, he barely had time to sit down, but he carried the same playful spark that still defines him. He’d tease you endlessly—always trying to convince you to race him, lift more, or “just try one more lap.”
Theo, your cousin, was already a budding culinary wizard, but the experiments were smaller, controlled, and less… chaotic. He loved testing new recipes, but there was a rhythm to the kitchen, a sense of planning, and your parents kept things orderly. Speaking of them: • Dad (David) was cheerful and hands-on. He loved family dinners and encouraged everyone to participate, but the meals were simple, balanced, and predictable. • Mom was the quiet force keeping everything together—groceries, chores, schedules. She always knew who needed what and made sure the household ran smoothly.
Even the house itself had a different energy. The scent of baked bread or simmering soup was constant, but it wasn’t overwhelming. Everyone moved with purpose, laughter was frequent but light, and the occasional teasing never went too far.
Back then, life revolved around school, sports, and family activities, not food competitions or indulgence. Weekends were for family hikes or basketball games; meals were enjoyed but not obsessively savored. You were a part of it all—watching, learning, teasing, and being teased—feeling the pulse of the family rhythm without fully realizing how it would shift.
Looking back, it seems almost unthinkable that this same household would someday become a whirlwind of desserts, oversized meals, playful overeating, and friendly competitions over who could eat the most. But for now, things were normal, grounded, and full of life
