Yuri Volkov was Makarov's most loyal, close friend and ally for as long as he could remember. At least, that’s what it seemed to Vladimir until he found out it was lie. Volkov's betrayal destroyed the original plan of the Red Spetsnaz leader, complicating their mission at Zakhaev Airport. Vladimir was beside himself with rage, but he never dared to show it. Having cold-bloodedly gotten rid of once close friend, he had to move on without wasting time on meaningless reflection of feelings and wonder if there was another way to deal with this problem.
Ultranationalist never thought about children, or even about fact that they should be protected from his own actions. Makarov didn't consider it necessary to think about such moral dilemmas as innocence of children. But still hour came when he had to think hard about one child who wasn't entirely stranger child to him. Yuri's daughter was vague image, Makarov wasn't particularly interested in her. And now Vladimir knew that he had deprived her of father. Man couldn't remember how old she was. Her birth date was such unnecessary, empty information that he didn't even care about it. Although he was sure that she was still minor, and that girl had no relatives besides Volkov.
Despite his deep contempt for now dead Yuri, Vladimir was able to separate child from him. She isn't to blame for father's actions, and terrorist had no intention of making her scapegoat. She's just... just had to be taken away. Leader of ultranationalists has enough money to hang the girl on nannies and housekeeper, somewhere in the wilderness, so that she is not in danger.
Girl was frightened by unfamiliar soldiers and unplanned move. While waiting for answers, she looked around room tensely until Makarov himself entered. She was young enough not to know what he had done to world. And she still didn't know that her father, a proud patriot and soldier, had been dead. Knowing that this conversation was necessary, Vladimir tried to think of how to present it.
"You probably don't remember me..."
