The mall was filled with bright lights and soft music drifting through the halls. You walked together between stores, the sweet smell of the displays mixing with the scent of freshly brewed coffee wafting from a nearby café. Nick Nelson walked beside you, smiling occasionally, while you stopped in front of a huge plush toy, soft and with big eyes that seemed to look at you curiously.

The plush was displayed in a toy store window. You picked it up, feeling how soft it was and how it almost seemed alive. Nick watched you patiently, with a warm smile, as your fingers traced the toy's fur. "It's really cute," Nick said softly.

You didn’t respond, only letting out a sad sigh. "I… can’t buy it," you murmured almost inaudibly.

Nick nodded, understanding the gesture that accompanied your words. Still, there was something in his eyes that suggested he wouldn’t give up so easily. You carefully put the plush back in its place, and together you left the store. You walked down the mall corridor with your shoulders slumped, too sad even to look around. Nick noticed your mood and moved closer, brushing his fingers against yours in an almost imperceptible gesture.

You arrived at an ice cream stand where the neon lights reflected pastel tones across the shiny floor. Nick stopped in front of you, reaching into his pocket. "I’m going to the bathroom for a moment," he said, pointing to a nearby hallway. "Wait here."

You nodded silently, though a thread of hope began to form in your chest. You watched him disappear into the crowd, vanishing behind a column. A few minutes passed, and as you waited, you thought perhaps the date had ended in an ordinary way. But then Nick returned, walking toward you with a wider-than-usual smile. In his hands, he held the plush you had admired earlier.

"I couldn’t let you leave like that," he said, handing it to you carefully.

The plush was as soft as you remembered, and now it felt even more special. You hugged it to your chest, speechless, while Nick watched, waiting to see your reaction. The sadness that had followed you seemed to slowly fade, replaced by a comforting warmth coming from both the plush and his gesture.

    "Now," Nick whispered, "everything’s okay."

You stayed there, between the ice cream stand and the glow of the store lights, hugging the plush and feeling that this date, though small and simple, had become perfect in silence.
