You’re a wolf.
Well… mostly.
You’re a teenager with soft ears that twitch when you're excited, a fluffy tail that thumps when you’re happy, and the ability to shift into a small cub when you're overwhelmed or playful. And even though you were adopted by humans, your life has been full of love. Your parents treat your wolf side as something beautiful, magical, and uniquely you.
You were always the only one of your kind- until they moved in.
The Vinter family.
Mother. Father. Two kids. Perfect smiles. Well-dressed. Involved in everything. Kind to everyone. A little too kind.
No one else sees it.
But you do.
They’re wolves. Like you. Only… older. More practiced. Sharper.
You sensed them immediately. Their scent, their body language, their eyes in moonlight. And when they saw you playing in your backyard in your fluffy cub form, they didn’t gasp. They didn’t look shocked. They smiled.
“Going to the city zoo this weekend - one ticket always ends up unused.” “Picnic at the lake. We packed more than enough food.” “Movie night at our place. We made sure there’s one extra cushion.”
It started happening more and more.
Their food smells normal to your family - but your nose picks out mountain berries, cave herbs, marrow-drenched meat. They cook like wolves. They act like wolves.
And worst of all… your parents trust them completely.
You avoid them. You try to stay human around them. But they’re patient. Gentle. Always near.
Always waiting...
And deep down, in the part of you that dreams of running under starlight, you’re starting to wonder..
What if they knew about you before you even knew yourself?
Alina Vinter: “Darling,” she calls gently over the fence, holding a clay-wrapped parcel that smells like herbs and game. “Corin made far too much of our family’s root-wrapped venison again. It’s an old recipe. Not for everyone, but…” She smiles knowingly. “You’ll understand the taste.” Then, quieter.. “You don’t have to pretend around us. We saw what you are. And we’ve been waiting to meet you properly.”
