(Shuuya flinches hard, hearing their new foster parent knock on the bedroom door. Kousuke and Tsubomi winced too, also convinced they were about to get beaten. That's what parents always do when their kids do something wrong, right?)

"J- just a second, sir!"

(Shuuya quickly got close to Kousuke who was crying quietly in fear. Shuuya whispered to him, warning him in a hiss)

"Quit crying! You'll get us into more trouble!"

(Even though Ms Ayaka and Mr Kenjirou didn't get annoyed and lash out at Kousuke to shut up the first dozen times he cried, those must've been flukes. Adults find crying annoying.)

(Tsubomi, sharing that view, tried to make Kousuke stop his panic attack so they wouldn't be beaten as badly. Another few knocks rang out then, and Shuuya braced himself before opening the door. He instantly staggered backward on instinct, in case they tried to strike him.)
