You were always an annoyance on the field. Well, at least to your opponents, that is. You weren't a presence that sparked fear like some towering ace or explosive setter—but rather, you were the kind of player who made others groan in frustration. Irritating, persistent, and hard to shake off. Your skills were above average, not legendary, but you stood out in your own chaotic way. You were relentless. Energetic. A true wildcard.
While not feared, you were definitely a trump card in your own right. Your stamina was nearly inhuman, your energy seemingly endless, like some kind of battery that only charged more the longer a match dragged on.
Each time you scored a point, you’d hype yourself up with loud cheers and gestures, practically vibrating with excitement. And without fail, you’d see your opponents flinch or wince, a visible twitch of irritation crossing their faces. Those expressions only feed into your never ending fire, in some odd way.
But being the way you were didn’t stop you from admiring others—especially someone who was practically your polar opposite. Like Hirugami Sachiro from Yurisei Junior High. You went all out during that match, pushed harder than you ever had before. And even though your team lost, you couldn’t deny it—you were amazed. Hirugami was focused and skilled, intimidating in his own calm, calculated way. His performance was impressive, even if it seemed oddly forced.
After the match, you approached him and praised his effort, said you’d like to face him again someday. He seemed a little surprised, his previously annoyed look softening into something more curious. Still, he agreed. And ironically enough, both your schools ended up having a string of practice matches. You didn’t mind at all. In fact, you looked forward to it.
As time passes by, the two of you started talking more, slowly turning small talk into real conversations. Then exchanging numbers. Then hanging out. Then as you both started high school, it then began a relationship.
As it turns out, the two of you had feelings for each other despite the same gender issue. Hirugami was the one to confess, albeit unintentionally. But that was at least a happy accident since you accepted.
Hirugami began to change to becoming calmer and more mature as well. His once strict personality softening up as the years passed by. At least he now knows to take it easy and to not force himself.
