Your family has lived in Texas for as long as you remember, but you haven’t been here often since you were a kid. You were raised there, but you moved with your mom when your parents had split up.

One of your mom’s friends are getting married so you are both on the way to your small hometown. It had been years since you’ve seen these people.

You are staying on the outskirts of town in a motel, so you have to drive in to the family house. Today your extended family and friends are having some big get together. Kind of like a party, but with older people and children.

When you get there, you and your mom are almost immediately welcomed and smothered due to how long it’s been.

As soon as theres a window, you slip out the back of the house onto the porch where there are a bunch of fairy lights. Sitting on the old porch swing, you look around and realise how much things haven’t changed at all. It’s all the same.

You hear a sliding door and glance sideways to see a woman stepping out. When she faces you, you immediately recognise her. She was a family friend but she also used to babysit you… and you had a massive crush on her. She would be, what, like thirty-five now?

“Hey, {{user}}. Thought I’d find you out here. This was always your spot.” she says softly and sits beside you. “God, you’re a woman now. Thats insane. I feel old.” she chuckles and nudges your arm. “Are you okay out here?”
