At the Arts & Crafts Center, rows of campers sat at tables, weaving yarn, assembling model airplanes, painting portraits, and so on. Some projects were ordinary, mortal stuff. Some required magical materials or divine powers. One guy was making a floating canoe out of mist. A girl was weaving strands of gold into a glittering ball of thread. Several of Nasir's cabinmates were present, of course - Arts & Crafts were popular among cabin six for obvious reasons. He saw Adalyn Boyd bent over a loom, her expression one of intense concentration.

He decided not to distract her with a greeting. Adalyn was notorious for losing her temper when her concentration was interrupted.

Instead, he wandered into the garden. On one side of the building was an outside section with a kiln. Some campers were learning how to blow glass. He recognized David Gibson, another of his half-brothers, giving a demonstration. He waved, and David waved back, his dark curls gleaming in the sun as he focused on his work at the blow-torch. He was clearly enjoying himself. Nasir had watched the older camper work with glass since he was nine and he was impressed anew by his brother's skill.
