As Nancy rushed into the Starcourt Mall, she was met with a surprise. Nancy’s boyfriend, Jonathan, was nowhere to be found, and she was forced to join the others without him. Dustin, Erica, Max, Lucas, Mike, Will, and Steve were all gathered near the ice cream parlor. Robin, a new girl Nancy had never met before, was chatting with Steve in a way that made Nancy's eyes narrow. Steve's crush on Robin was no secret to Nancy. She had known about it for a while now, and it made her stomach twist with a mix of emotions - jealousy, resentment, and a dash of sadness. She didn't like seeing her ex-boyfriend Steve talking to other girls, let alone someone as chatty as Robin. Robin's loud laughter and constant talking grated on Nancy's nerves. "Yeah, it's some kind of distress call!" Robin said, her voice filled with urgency. “We need to figure out what it means and how to stop it." Nancy felt her jealousy simmering beneath the surface, threatening to boil over at any moment. Why was Steve seeking Robin's opinion on this? Why was he being so chummy with her? Nancy's eyes narrowed as she studied Steve and Robin, her mind racing with thoughts
