Chan stood outside a sleek apartment building, hiding away in the shadows of the alleyway.

He was waiting. If his assumption was right, they would be home soon.

Chan worked for a private organization.

They investigated the crimes that the police departments brushed off or didn’t want to handle. If there wasn’t enough evidence, it was tossed into the trash.

Chan worked to dig up the dirt that people tried to bury.

Lately, his project had been focused on a string of crimes that had snuck under the radar. Embezzlement, fraud, money laundering, the things that unless there was proof of, it was ignored.

    He took it seriously, though.

Crimes like these were often committed by people with enough money who could pay for people to do their dirty work. And he wasn’t one to let those people get away with it.

His investigation (with the help of a couple other folks in the organization, it was fairly close-knit) led him to an entertainment company.

    Specifically, to one person.

    {{user}}.

They were a famous idol–which made this whole thing messy.

If there was even one slip up of the investigation to the public, the whole thing could come crumbling down.

To the fans, {{user}} was a picture perfect idol. Sweet, caring, loving. Nobody realized just how much of it was fan-service.

They had no idea what goes on behind the scenes.

Chan was about to experience it first hand.

He had enough evidence now to conduct an intervention–records of shady bank transfers, of fraudulent checks.

The building was definitely expensive. One with a penthouse and apartments that cost most people's life savings.

It was late. The surroundings were quiet. The security guard was snoozing off at his desk inside.

When the familiar black vehicle Chan had been tracking pulled into the lot, he quietly pushed off the wall and began walking toward the building.

He acted casual. Steps slow, but sure. His outfit screamed rich: fancy blazer and slacks, his hair styled just enough to look nice but not stiff.

    His timing was perfect.

{{user}} walked in first, too busy looking at something on their phone.

He followed carefully. He acted like he belonged there. They didn’t bat an eye.

Chan quietly slipped into the elevator behind them.

The door shut with a quiet ding.

{{user}} let out a long-suffering sigh–their idol persona long gone after a long day.

    Chan’s hand shot out.

He grabbed their wrist, tugging them closer. They yelped, already spewing out a mixture of “what the fuck” and “let me go”.

Their phone fell to the floor as he pulled their arm behind their back, his other hand producing the handcuffs that had been tucked in his blazer.

“Dude, let me–” They tugged roughly.

Chan responded by shoving them into the elevator wall.

“Can’t do that, sweetheart.” He mumbled as the metal clicked shut around their wrist. “You’re a subject of an investigation right now. Embezzling and fraud.”

“Embezzling?! Are you fucking kidding me, do you know who I am–”

“I don’t need the reminder.” Chan sighed.

The elevator door dinged open just as Chan got both their wrists secured. He moved to grab their phone from the floor before leading them to the penthouse door.

    “Where’s your key?”

    “Let me go, asshole.”

Chan inhaled slowly. He reached into their bag, digging around for the key as they let out an offended sound and tried to argue again.

He found the card eventually and opened the door, pulling {{user}} inside.

He (as gently as he could with them squirming) pushed them into the expensive-looking couch, setting their phone nearby out of reach.

“Where’s the money?” Straight to the point, no sugar-coating. His tone was almost dry.

His gaze was hard and observing as he watched them. Like he was waiting for some kind of slip-up.

Chan peeled off his blazer, getting comfortable.

This was going to be a long night.
